Outdoor Barn Wedding Romance in the Countryside of Central New Hampshire
The Highland Lake Inn is an intimate and romantic barn wedding venue located in central New Hampshire off of Rt 11 in East Andover. The ceremony space is located on their lush, green lawn and hosts a unique vine arch as an alter to frame this moment in a perfect picture. In Fall, the lawn is surrounded by a variety of reds, oranges and golds shimmering in the cool Autumn air - the best backdrop I can imagine to a moment you want to be remembered for generations.
The Bride Getting Ready at Highland Lake Inn in Andover, NH
Both the bride and groom were able to get prepared at the inn in separate locations as to not accidentally see each other before the ceremony!
I borrowed the dress, cowboy boots, flowers, and bridesmaids dresses to take some photos out behind the barn. This was a great spot so no one would see the dress before the moment when the bride walked down the aisle.
I loved taking photos at this barn because it was white. It made a rustic but elegant background that showed off the details without taking over the photographs.
An overcast Day Made for beautiful lighting on the lawn at Highland Lake Inn
Taking photos at this wedding ceremony was wonderful! The lighting filtering through the overcast skies made a wonderful soft and romantic feeling to all the images. The ceremony space on the lawn behind the barn at Highland Lake Inn is quite beautiful with the huge vine arbor arch that can be decorated to fit almost any theme. My only complaint about the ceremony location was the difficulty I had photographing the processional. In the background of every image during the processional had ugly parts of the building or cars, all of which were very distracting. To help with this, I moved my position to a more pleasing angle for the background to be more like the nature scene we were all surrounded by.
The ceremony was perfect in every way, with exchanging of vows and the bride and grooms son playing an important role throughout! Even the bubble exit was perfect!
Bride and groom portraits were taken on the property at Highland lake inn during fall foliage
We were so lucky to be able to use the fantastic property around Highland Lake Inn to take bride and groom portraits. This October wedding occurred near peak fall colors so I was able to incorporate the Autumn leaves in all the photos.
The back lawn is a beautiful open field with a tree-lined mixed with hardwoods and pines. We also went around to the front of the barn, near the main entrance of the inn, where there were lots of fallen leaves on the ground. I posed the bride and groom into position in front of the white barn and laid on the ground to capture the leaves in the foreground of the image.
The bridal bouquet was the perfect Fall bouquet filled with sunflowers and dark red colors.
The Barn Was The Perfect Place for the Wedding Reception
Inside the barn is a wonderful space with plenty of room for seating downstairs and upstairs. The balcony created a great photo during the first dance of the couple embracing each other while friends looked down from above. All the activities were so much fun! We had a hilarious cake cutting and an exciting bouquet toss. The bride and groom on the dance floor was also a great time. They got the crowd into it and everyone was having a ball.
A Sparkler Exit Makes a Great Farewell Photo at the Wedding Reception
Towards the end of the evening, I arranged a ‘sparkler exit’ photo for the couple. Everyone was ready to celebrate and show the newlyweds off in style! This is always one of my favorite photos I get to attempt as a wedding photographer. Even if it isn’t the perfect photograph, it shows how much fun the whole wedding night was in one picture.
